The Daily Galaxy has an article about how astronauts have experienced joy, bliss, and a connectedness with the universe. Andy Newberg, a neuroscientist/physician is trying to find what in the brain gives this feeling. There's also a brief discussion on how quantum physics may play a part.
Hopefully Andy Newberg will look at the findings out there for brain waves, as having high peaks of certain types may be a sign of this happening.
