CMBR Dipole
The image of the CMBR Dipole from the Astronomy Picture of the Day site reminds me a bit of the Yin Yang symbol, even though each side is missing a bit of the essence of the other.

Telepathy on a Chip
Scientists are working on a chip that would allow us control televisions, computers, and light switches with our mind.
On the one hand, I think that would be pretty cool. On the other hand, part of me would not want one, thinking it would be a mind-control plot for a Doctor Who episode. :)

Scientists Find that Bodies Glow with a Visible Light
Japanese scientists report that the human body glows with visible light in small quantities that rise and fall with the day.
I actually wonder if this light is what I have known as ether, a small band of light that I have seen outline people. I have to concentrate on it, but can see a transparent light. How easy it is to see depends on the background behind a person. This makes me wonder if scientists will eventually acknowledge that auras are real.

Meditation Changes Your Genes
A study by researchers at Benson-Henry Institute for Mind/Body Medicine at Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH) and the Genomics Center at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center (BIDMC) looked at how meditation changes how genes behave in response to stress (as well as other relaxation techniques).
The study compared long term practitioners, people that completed 8 weeks of relaxation technique training, and general people who were not practitioners and found that up to 2,209 genes were significantly different. Some of these genes are involved with inflammation, programmed cell death and the handling of free radicals.
It's great to have more studies on the benefits of meditation.

Changes in the adult brain happen faster than originally thought
Physorg.com reports that adult brain can change within seconds. The article speaks of plasticity, which reminds me of the materials from Holosync that have mentioned that. Scientists temporarily deprived part of the brain from receiving input and the brain is "referring" signals from nearby regions of the brain to compensate for that. They're speculating that this reorganized response to sensory information reflects a rewiring of the brain or a growth of new connections. Again, this reminds me of stuff talked about in the Holosync materials.

Alternative Medicine Goes Mainstream
A story at Yahoo mentions that alternative medicines are finding acceptance by doctors, insurers, and hospitals. I think it has slowly been moving that way for quite sometime. I remember a nurse learning Reiki that intended to use it at work. It does mention Reiki, crystal singing bowls (as a quartz bowl), herbal remedies, and more. It's definitely nice to see a merging of eastern and western medicine.

Testing remote viewing with Twitter
An experiment will have people tweet their remote viewing impressions based on a random spot chosen by the researchers.
This is an interesting idea, but I think there is too much of an unknown factor for whomever ends up participating in this, since it looks like they are allowing the general public to participate. How will they be able to distinguish those people that are actually working with remote viewing versus those who are randomly guessing or using some other method to determine the spot? And instead of just having people vote on the photograph that matches what they come up with, they should be gathering information on what the viewers come up with (such as drawings).

7 Ways to Better Recall Your Dreams
A Reader's Digest article titled 7 Ways to Better Recall Your Dreams has some good ideas, though I am not sure that all of them really help with recall.
Incubating an idea is better for guiding dream content than remembering the dream.
Connecting the dots, as stated in the article, is better for interpreting dreams, but I usually find that having hunches about a dream's meaning work better than trying to analyze them or looking them up in a dream dictionary.
And finally, changing the outcome is better suited for trying to have a lucid dream.
I have used the other tips for dream recall. I don't really write them down immediately after waking up, as I am better at holding the dream in my head (and sometimes I will remember it later in the day), but I think meditation has helped with dream recall.

Interesting experience with Holosync
I started Purification Level 4 the other week and I have experienced a couple of times, particularly last night, a sensation go through my body. I don't know how else to possibly describe it except to say it felt like a vibration and only lasted a second or so. It felt pretty strong last night, though I don't know what it is or why it is happening. But I'm okay with that.

Experiencing Oneness In Outer Space
The Daily Galaxy has an article about how astronauts have experienced joy, bliss, and a connectedness with the universe. Andy Newberg, a neuroscientist/physician is trying to find what in the brain gives this feeling. There's also a brief discussion on how quantum physics may play a part.
Hopefully Andy Newberg will look at the findings out there for brain waves, as having high peaks of certain types may be a sign of this happening.

Solfeggio Ascension Frequency Tones - 6 weeks later
Well, there really isn't anything else to report that I haven't mentioned in my previous posts, except for one night where I felt my root and third eye chakras tingle. Otherwise, I really don't feel any different after the recommended 6 weeks.

My first crystal singing bowl
I got my first crystal singing bowl, an 8" classic frosted bowl with a G# tone from Crystal Tones. This tone is associated with what is known as the zeal point and is on the back of the neck, about halfway between the third eye and throat chakras.
I'm actually surprised at how easy it is to play and it sounds very nice. The box it arrived in was very big compared to the bowl and contained lots of packing peanuts. I even got some free incense with it, which was a nice surprise.
I was I could say my experience with the company was as good as the product. Their website's certificate expired, which did not make me feel safe ordering online, and I felt the representative that took my order was a bit pushy in trying to sell me more than I wanted. I would also have preferred that they connect their website database with their inventory so you actually know what is in stock.

Review of Conscious Dreaming by Robert Moss
Over the years, my ability to recall dreams has improved. I will also get a sense of when a dream is just a dream, when it is filtering out stuff that's happened in my life the past couple of days, or when there is a message in the dream for me. I've also had at least one out-of-body experience and two lucid dreams.
I've never really cared for dream dictionaries for dream interpretation. They may help sometimes, but usually I feel that they are off the mark for me. I've also felt that there are more to dreams, something spiritual about them, but have never found anything that mirrors my feelings about dreams.
I borrowed the book Conscious Dreaming, written by Robert Moss, from a friend. I have to say that I have mixed feelings about the book.
On one hand, there are a lot of nifty ideas in the book that interested me. If I were to describe what the basic idea of conscious dreaming is, it is like a lucid dream, but instead of trying to control and change the dream, you interact with it and the characters in the dream.
On the other hand, Moss' writing feels very scattered and disconnected at times, mentioning other dream ideas, but never strengthening them to the idea of conscious dreaming. He does not go into enough detail on bringing about conscious dreaming and makes it sound as if it is very easy to do. I can't even have a lucid dream at will and even then, it can be difficult to stay in a lucid dream at first once you realize you are dreaming.

Orb photo
This photo was taken by me at the Reno Psychic Fair that took place at the Circus Circus casino. It was taken during a class on spiritual photography given by Cynthia Sue Larson. I took another photo shortly after this, but no orb could be seen. I only had one other photo (out of a dozen or so) that had an orb in it, but it was not as visible as this one.

Review of Healing Crystal & Tibetan Bowls by Danny Becher
I've owned Danny Becher's Healing Crystal & Tibetan Bowls CD for a few months now and am pleased with my purchase.
The CD consists of three tracks:
The first track works on the first 4 chakras, the second track on the next 3, and the last track goes through all 7 chakras. The CD is very relaxing to listen to. I've brought the CD to work to listen in my office and I've found that I feel very calm, which is saying something considering how stressful things have been for the past year.
I'm in the process right now of getting a crystal singing bowl right now and will share my experiences here later on.

Solfeggio Ascension Frequency Tones experiences, week 3
I really don't have anything new to share after my 3rd week of listening. I'm having my doubts that anything is really happening, but I will stick with it for the recommended 6 weeks, as sometimes things take time. I probably won't bother with updates unless anything interesting happens or when I complete the 6 weeks.

Near-death experiences: Heaven can wait
"Near-death experiences: Heaven can wait" article from The Independent goes into mostly what physiologists think causes a near-death experience.
Here's a thought: maybe when the soul is separating from the body, it causes those things to happen in the brain? And also, when a high percentage of people experience joy and peace, maybe we should just see it for the gift that is, whether it is physiological or spiritual in nature?
It's interesting that they mention an out-of-body experience as something separate from a near-death experience. It's true when you think about it, though I always thought an out-of-body experience was a given for a near-death experience. If I ever happen to be in a situation where I have a near-death experience, I wonder if the out-of-body experience will be more likely for me, as I have had an out-of-body experience. Mine was interesting in the fact that my eyes remained closed throughout the whole experience, though I could feel the carpet beneath my feet. It was not sleepwalking, though, as the layout of my house was not right during the experience.

Solfeggio Ascension Frequency Tones experiences, week 2
There's really nothing special to add for this week, as it was mostly the same thing - feeling relaxed. The only exception was during one listen where I felt my solar plexus chakra responding to the tones.

Solfeggio Ascension Frequency Tones experiences, week 1
I don't have a lot to report about my experiences with the Solfeggio tones in this first week, short of what I have already mentioned in a previous post. I continue to find myself being relaxed, even though the tones are not the most relaxing sounds and the tones only last about 10 minutes. One day I thought I felt my throat chakra tingle, but it was very subtle. I have never felt my throat chakra like that, though. On another day, the area over my heart chakra felt warm - if I have ever felt that before, I don't remember it. I've also been a lot more stable and calm this week, after having a number of difficult weeks, but since I am also using Holosync, I don't know for sure if this is because of the Solfeggio tones, Holosync, or a combination of both.

The human brain is on the edge of chaos
From the article:
It's a little bit of a difficult read, but it does tend to make me think of the idea that Bill Harris of Centerpointe (makers of Holosync) mentions of the brain being an open system, building up in chaos to where we approach a threshold. At that threshold, we start feeling uncomfortable and generally use methods to supress the energy or get it out of our system. If we become the witness instead, the theory is that the brain will eventually reach a point to where it will reorganize itself to a higher level, raising the threshold, and thus being able to take more chaos until we reach that uncomfortable point again.
Cambridge-based researchers provide new evidence that the human brain lives "on the edge of chaos", at a critical transition point between randomness and order.

Bruce Manaka and the Healing Power of Sound
In the following video, Bruce Manaka talks about how sound can heal the body, mind, and spirit. He also takes some time to play a crystal singing bowl, and even though this is a recording, the sound the crystal singing bowl is still powerful. Crystal singing bowls are based on Tibetan singing bowls, which are generally made of metal, but are crystal instead. If you've never the sound that comes from a crystal singing bowl before, you're in for a real treat.

Solfeggio Ascension Frequency Tones experiences, days 1 and 2
I won't try to explain what Solfeggio frequencies are - I'll leave that to the Solfeggio Ascension Frequencies site.
Listening to the tones took some time getting used to - the sounds are not the most relaxing, but after the second day, I became used to it.
The most noticeable thing I experienced was a slight pain in the area of my belly chakra. It was just annoying, nothing that bad, and went away relatively quickly after listening to the tones (a listening lasts for about 10 minutes). I felt my hand chakras, third eye, and crown chakra tingle at times, but it was nothing unsual to me having worked with Reiki, meditation, and other spiritual practices.
The second day was more laid back than the first. I felt a bit of pain in my belly chakra, but it was less than the first day. I was actually surprised this time, though, as I felt pretty relaxed by the end of it.
If I get any interesting experiences while listening, I will definitely share them here.
